Welcome to Parent Resources Canada
This may be one of the toughest times ever in history to be a parent. Yes, in many ways our lives are easier in terms of comfort, security and convenience but our biggest concerns center on how to best prepare our children to become happy and successful adults. In a world experiencing rapid political and technological changes and heightened expectations, it is difficult to know what to tell our kids they should do and kids themselves are rightly confused about the major life-altering decisions that they are faced with at a young age.
If there is one thing that is a given in this era of change it is that the ability to learn and to efficiently evaluate new information effectively is more critical than ever. So being a good learner is not an option nowadays, it is a necessary survival skill. However, while there has been much research done on how children learn, there are many conflicting opinions on the best approach to teach our kids and as a result parents are still feeling left to their own devices when they are trying to help their own child who needs help with math, English, history, science, etc. Furthermore, let's not ignore the fact that many children are gifted, others have learning challenges and some children have both. How do we nurture our kids so that they can reach their full potential no matter what their particular abilities are?
Our mission at Parent Resources Canada is to share stories of real families who are making headway in their children's educational needs and accomplishments, including their struggles and strategies. We'll also discuss current contraversies such of the role of technology in education and the latest research on learning and try to provide an critical perspective. As well, we are going to review other resources that may be helpful such as books, toys, learning tools, camps and schools.
If you would like to suggest a topic for discussion or a service or product that you think would benefit other parents and their kids, please drop us a line at [email protected].
